great cousin pictures

Time Travel

I forgot to post in July that Tagg lost his first tooth! What a bad mom that I forgot to put up a picture earlier.

More of the Beach

We took a break from the sun and sand today to get Dad some new glasses, Sarah and I noticed that Dad was living in a virtual fog of scratches on his old frames. After some persuading, we came up with these.

Greetings from South Carolina

Hi, the kids and I are in Myrtle Beach SC spending sometime relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Matt drove us out her and spent a few days here and then flew home to work. Next, Sarah and Lucy flew out followed by Dad. Sarah and Lucy are already back in Iowa and tomorrow MIMI comes from Nebraska. It is such a break to do nothing.

misc pictures

I forgot that I had a second camera with pictures on it! Here are just a few extra pictures. I forgot to mention how much fun it is to fish with your family! We had great weather to be on the lake and enjoy the view and conversation. I wish I had more adult pictures to add, after lookin at my blog yesterday I realized how many kid pictures I had taken.

Detroit Lakes

We had our annual trip up North to see Grandpa Albertson, who will celebrate his 94th birthday in August. In Albertson fashion, we can't wait for anything so we celebrated a month early with all the cousins and great grand children.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead

One of the goals we had for the summer was to read all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. We have been enjoying the books so much that we decided to visit the real homestead in DeSmet South Dakota, The Ingalls family had lived in many different states and traveled nearly 2000 miles in the covered wagon before staying in DeSmet until death. We had low expectations going into this trip but we were all blown away by the homestead. It's hard to describe but, we were in the middle of reading "The Long Winter" and many of the activities were directly related to this book and how they survived 7 months of blizzards. Among the attractions were a sod house, covered wagon rides, a one room school session, a 3week old foal running wild, rope making, corncob doll making and horse riding. We were able to spend the night in the bunk house and even without a bathroom had one of the best nights rest.
