The Violin Recital

May is a hectic month for our family. We finished soccer, violin, school and traveled to Kansas City. I wanted to display the pictures from the violin recital. The kids took lesson all school year and built up to the big night at Hastings College Music Hall recital. We practiced a TON and were really prepared for the performance. Tagg went up on stage and our instructor announced the wrong song for Tagg to play. Saylor and I were petrified for him, Tagg was cool as a cucumber and played the song that she announced. Despite the initial shock, he did great. We asked him how he knew how to play the song and he said that he had heard Saylor play it. Saylor did great at her performance and playing at the school talent show.

Mimi and Papa turn 61

Mimi and Papa have the exact same birthday and it is the day after mine. We had a great time celebrating their big day with dinner, gifts and individual cakes. Saylor was able to draw a picture and have a cookie cake made to replicate it, Tagg changed his mind about using his picture and went with the golf cake.

The loss of a family member

Yes, we lost a member of the Pershing clan on my birthday. Our fish, Nemo, died leaving behind one grieving boy. Matt officiated a backyard funeral and Tagg spoke a few words about how "Nemo was a curious fish and I took really, really good care of him." Martha, the family dog?, has taken to exchanging rides in the car for good behavior at home! It was a wonderful birthday for me with the exception of the fish "going to heaven."

The good egg

We just got back from a fabulous weekend in Iowa, spent with Sarah, Chris and Lucy. Our Easter was so fun with our niece, who is just pure fun. Saylor and Tagg loved playing with their cousin and attempting a movie night. Sarah made a wonderful Easter meal in their new home that we all enjoyed, Tagg asked if he could take their house home. Yes, the Easter bunny found us in Iowa thanks to Aunt Sarah sending a letter ahead of time to let him know where we were.

This is a picture of a tree in theor neighborhood that we had to check out. This was one memorable Easter, with the snow and the tree!

skiing

Matt, John and Saylor went to Breckenridge to ski and enjoy all the snow. Saylor went to ski school all day for kids aged 7-13. She made a friend from Des Moines and learned to parallel stop, no more snow plowing. Matt and John had a fabulous time skiing and checking on Saylor too.

Winter Activities

Saylor and I went to Omaha with our friends to see Addy an American Girl theater production. It was in a beautiful theater, in the heart of the city. The show was amazing and we enjoyed a girls day.

These 2 pictures I caught of Saylor and Tagg on a Saturday morning, they were debating how fast Tagg would go down the stairs in a cardboard box. Tagg finally got too scared and bailed out on the adventure.


Another adventure we took on was teaching Tagg to ride a bike. You may notice that he is missing from the pictures because he rides like a bat out of hell. Saylor really likes to ride cautiously and slowly so this is new to us to have a fast rider.
