Nonnie in Omaha

What a weekend!Matt's Grandma was able to come to Nebraska so 25 member of the family members met her. Unfortunately I had an eye incident on Friday, so I was a bit out of sorts during the time together. It almost looks like we were wearing uniforms but it was a home football weekend so we all coordinated.

Nonnie flew in for a few days from Arizona and we met at an Embassy Suites in La Vista. Our rooms were over-sized and the pool was great for the large group of kids.

We had a wonderful cocktail hour and breakfast spent all talking and catching up, as if we all don't live near each other.Another version of a staycation, only a family reunion with family that should see more often.

Adventures in Transportation

We we went to Chicago for the Labor Day weekend with a plan to do as many museums as we could. The trip began with me forgetting my photo id at home and somehow managing to get on a plane in Omaha without it. After we arrived in Chicago we made the bold choice to take the subway to our hotel in the downtown area, this was over 20 stops!. We figured it all out and made it to the hotel safely for a break before the big ball game. Matt was able to get tickets to the Chicago White Sox/ Boston Red Sox baseball game. The weather was beautiful and Cominsky Park was outstanding. The next day we went to the field museum where they had a pirate exhibit that we never got around to. There were pirates hanging from the ceiling, the picture of the blue toes and statues all over. That afternoon we made our way to Michigan Av for tea at the American Girl store. It was beautiful, a harpist played, we drank hot cocoa. Tagg really enjoyed himself and participated by answering questions, "what's your biggest dream?" Tagg's response "To be a caveman". It's intended to be a nice conversation starter for the tea but ....We also got to the Lego store and viewed the unbelievable creations, really cool. Our last full day we took the #10 bus to the Museum of Science and Industry, it was truly awesome. There was soo much to see but we got to most of it including the Harry Potter exhibit that had all the stuff from the movies, costumes, wands, cars, etc. It was great, Hagrids Hut was cool and you could sit in his chair too. The next day we took a cab to the airport to return back to Nebraska. I forgot to mention that we took a water taxi to the Field Museum from Navy Pier and a bike rider took us down Michigan Av to complete are Adventure in Transportation.
